About Sarah Amberg, MA, LPC, LAC

In order to truly show up for you as a therapist, I am committed to doing my own therapeutic and healing work. I have used the modalities I practice, and engage with my own Internal Family System on a daily basis. This allows me to stay in Self energy and support you as you work with your parts system. I also bring an intuitive, spiritual lens to my sessions. I have been studying and practicing shamanic work for the past eight years.

My Education & Experience

I hold an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, emphasis in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University. I also hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College, and I spent the first 13 years of my career as a high school English teacher in San Diego, CA. While attending graduate school in Boulder, I fell in love with Colorado and have made it my new home.

In my time as a therapist I have worked with a variety of individuals, including those dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, domestic violence, and substance use disorders, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor and previously worked as a primary therapist at an addiction treatment center. I completed my training in EMDR trauma therapy at Maiberger Institute in Boulder, CO, and I completed Level 1 IFS training with the IFS Institute. In addition, I  have trained in shamanic work for the past eight years, which informs my worldview and therapy practice. My practice is LGBTQ+ friendly.

What my clients have to say

"Sarah is an amazing therapist who is really good at what she does. She is very knowledgable and intelligent. I was always impressed she could identify exactly what I was experiencing or going through from a psychology standpoint, which really helped me understand myself better and make changes possible if needed. I saw Sarah almost every week for over a year and I never dreaded going to my appointment and also enjoyed and benefited from all of them. The only reason I stopped is because I moved out of state. She helped me with a lot of self and spiritual growth. I appreciated her mindfulness background. I also found it really easy to set up or communicate with her about appointments since you can just text her. I would recommend her to anyone."
